En el mundo de la musica no todo esta dictado, sucede que muchas veces los medios con todo y las trampas que a veces tejen sobre el promedio de la gente a la cual le recetan contenidos harto probados hasta el hartazgo (en este caso y concretamente en estas epocas) que atosiguen el oido con la denominada onda indie y se queden a un lado propuestas muchos mas interesantes, mucho mas imaginativas e inventivas que se salgan de lo que el mainstream dicta.
Grupos interesantes los hay de muchos modos y de muchas formas, desde la electronica sensitiva de Cornelius, hasta el pop bizarro de Panda Bear y la dulce emotividad de grupos como The Shins (y eso por no hablar de la banda-que con todo y que supera a muchas agrupaciones-no deja de ser la mas sobrevalorada de estos ultimos años:The Arcade Fire)
Psapp es un dueto formado por Galia Durant y Carim Classman que tiene en su haber uno de los conceptos mas hermosos en cuanto a musica reciente se refiere, con un estilo que bien podriamos definir como pop inteligente, Psapp ha creado una ola de expectacion a lo largo del planeta por su asimilacion de los elementos que les rodean para poder manipularlos y extraer esos peculiares sonidos (segun los que saben es el genero toytronica) que inundan sus grabaciones, juguetes, ruidos de la cocina, cachivaches, todo esto en un caldo de cultivo musical divertido (incluido un patito de hule llamado Brunhida) que no harta, suena fresco y vigorizante y a esto sumale la musica nutrida por las experimentaciones sonoras y los tres elementos de la musica que sobresalen en cualquier tema que escuches de ellos : la armonia, el ritmo y la melodia.
Recordando la experiencia con la cantautora Carrie de Guadalajara (que me debe una entrevista) no desisti y me subscribi al My Space (por si gustan entrarle www.myspace.com/osopolar.1980 ) y me encontre con que Psapp (el dueto) son unas personas muy sencillas (al menos por correo) y estuve en contacto con Galia Durant para invitarla a que me contestara algunas preguntillas para poder subirlas a mi blog, al fin despues de mucho estar mande y mande correos la vocalista de este peculiar dueto nos concedio (bueno, me concedio) una minientrevista que no es LA entrevista pero revela pequeños detalles en torno a este singular grupo, He aqui lo que respondio:
First of all, what's the meaning of Psapp?
R:It came from and old and hardly known fairy tale where the wizard of pretbaked "the cakes of sound" wich would make the one who eats them hear exotic noises no one else would hear. This wizard had an sloth Psappwitch in the two hours it was awake each day , put miniature bells and whistles in the wizard´s cakes, one day the wizard discovered the sloth´s trick and realised that his "cakes of sound" had no magical powersat all but that he had been tricked by the sloth.
Are cats inspiration for your lyrics and music?
R:We take inspiration from everything around us - arguments, falling in love,bad weather, those little sparks of excitement when an idea occurs to you for the first time and everything else in between. It is true that we haveused cat noises in several of our songs though.
I feel Herbert is an influence?
R:We are both fans of his work and like him, we love using interesting noises we create ourselves rather than the obvious presets which exist on keyboards and boring sound modules.
Here in Mexico we know for the theme "Cosy in the rocket" which doesn't appear in any official album...you think what is thing of destiny?
R:It is strange as when we wrote it we never contemplated releasing it but then it got into the hands of a music supervisor who fell in love with it. I find the whole thing strange but of course it's been a good thing for us a sit means that more people hear our music than might otherwise.
Could you define Psapp Music en three words
R:Bittersweet ,honest, mess.

R:Moondog, Pram, Deerhoof, Fela Kuti and Camille
Do you think My Space is a democratic media en the search of diferent proposes?
R:Myspace is quite an amazing idea and also a brilliant way to find out about new music. We have got a lot out of it and love the fact that we can directly contact people and create a little community. It is a very friendly concept.
How sound the new album of Psapp?
R:So far it is sounding a lot louder and more angry than our previous records but we're both looking forward to how it will eventually turn out as it's always a big surprise for us what we will come up with next!
